Training and Placement Team initiated an industrial tour to NMDC Ltd., with Mechanical Engineering Students with an objective to acquaint them with the application of theoretical concepts to industrial processes and systems flow.
The day started with a welcome speech by Mr. Rajan Kumar, Head of NMDC R&D Centre. SVIT Students and other engineering students pursuing internships at NMDC R&D Centre witnessed a warm welcome by Mr. TVS Subramanyam, DGM and other senior executives working at NMDC R&D Centre.
Mr. Subramanyam introduced the company by way of a short presentation, foregrounding its business profile and core activities. During this session, students learned about the steps involved in iron ore value chain. They came to know various methods involved in processing of iron ore value chain. They came to know various methods involved in processing of iron ores and the equipments/machinery used for the purpose. It outlined the importance of bulk material handling and processing machinery in large scale mining operations. Students also visited the various department s / laboratories to get a firsthand experience of the operations involved.
Students of SVIT interacted with the Head as well as the DGM and asked questions on projects and internships. Two Senior engineers of NMDC escorted the students to each division and they helped in understanding the functioning of various equipments and machinery.
Post tour, Ms.Sridevi Venugopal and Mr.Rajesh discussed the perks provided to interns and finally the DGM , NMDC Ltd., gave a nod of approval to admit 4 interns from Mechanical Engineering Division.
